Etihad and Emirates begin to resume flights

Etihad Airlines has started this weekend to operate a series of passenger flights after receiving the appropriate permissions from the authorities. The company will fly to destinations such as Singapore, Seoul, Manila, Bangkok, Amsterdam, although with some limitations.

Until this weekend, it had only operated flights for repatriation purposes. However, it can now operate flights with passengers.

Etihad Airlines flights have been to the USA, Sri Lanka and Australia. Like all other airlines, Etihad Airlines has had to keep almost its entire fleet grounded.

Emirates Airlines of Dubai has started to operate a number of flights, but with a limited number to European destinations. It has been two weeks that the company has kept paralyzed its entire air fleet. However, this Monday it began to resume operations.

The Dubai company has 271 wide-body aircraft at its disposal, which produces a very high cost to have this fleet paralyzed. Therefore, the company asked the government for authorization to resume its flights and from Monday it will be able to do so, according to the company's chairman, Ahmed ben Said Al-Moktoum. The chairman added that the flights to be resumed will be from Duabi to London, Frankfurt, Brussels, Zurich and Paris, with four flights per week to London and three to other cities.

In addition, the statement also added that the company's aircraft will be thoroughly cleaned after each flight in order to prevent the possible spread of the virus.

For the time being, the company will only transport passengers from Dubai to the other destinations mentioned above, and not the other way around. In the case of the return trip, the planes will be empty.
